These slippers had a lot to live up to after all the reviews I read about them on various sites, and so far, they aren't letting me down. Honestly, I would have not regularly paid for this much for slippers for myself, but it was my 40th birthday and I told my mom I wanted some new slippers that I could slide on without having to bend over and use my hands- plus something I could wear in or out (to get the mail and such). She sent me a link with the Sorel Nakiska slides (same as these, but the part by the heal is down a little lower). I started reading reviews on those and then came across this style, with more coverage of the heal and was getting really excited at trying these for myself. My hardest decision was the sizing. This review is from: BEARPAW Women's Knit Tall Boot (Apparel) Great boots. Buy these, not the Ugg sweater cardy's For comparison: I own 2 pairs of UGG boots, the Costco copycats, and now these. The quality of these meets and/or exceeds that of the original UGG boots. As the reviewer above stated, the soles are solid. There is not a lot of structure to this boot style- there is the sole and the back ankle suede to give it some shape, but other than that- it is very much like a sock attached to a sole. I think this boot is great for around the house and casual wear. Sizing: They definitely run small. I am a 6.5/7 shoe and the size 7 has my toe rubbing tip of the boot. If Amazon allowed for reinstatement of promo offers, I would have sized up. Since they do not, I will hope that the fur lining settles down like other shearling boots. I have skinny calves and often have a hard time finding boots with a calf circumference small enough- while these are still loose, they stay up enough to achieve the slouchy look... This review is from: BEARPAW Women's Knit Tall Boot (Apparel) I ordered these boots in chocolate for the upcoming winter, and got them for $37. I had checked other sites and found that they were $50 at other places, and decided to buy these before the price changed again. They arrived at my doorstep in a very timely manner, taking only 3 business days. The boots are very comfortable and are the same color as the picture. They look great folded down, and don't have the flap sticking out on the side as I had worried about. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is that they are more tedious than the normal winter boots to tuck jeans into, and also are not super secure on your feet when you walk. Personally, my boots fit fine length and width wise, yet still come loose from my heel when I walk. They are also shorter than I expected, when folded down. Overall however, I am happy with my purchase and do recommend these cute boots for the winter. There is no reinforcement at the toe, its basically a sock with a rubber(?) sole. Your feet slide around when you try to walk. I think if I had kept these my toes would have worn through the front in a matter of weeks, not to mention zero protection from the cold. One other thing that I probably should have noticed before buying, unfortunately I missed it, but there is a huge, unsightly seam at the back of the boot when you unfold it to wear it 'tall'. She didn't want plain black or brown boots, but all the cute colored ones were in young girls sizes, and she wears a ladies size 8! So I was very happy to find these in her favorite color, purple. The color is a very beautiful, rich purple, which my daughter loves. I love these boots because they are high quality. They are real suede for starters. The lining is real sheep fleece, and it covers the ENTIRE inside of the boots. The fleece makes the boots so warm and soft and cozy. Your feet just sink into them. The soles are padded and made of thick rubber with good traction on the bottom. When shopping for these, I found some that look just about identical for much less money, but they were made of thin fake suede, had thin, polyester fake fleece that was only in the top part of the boot, and had thin soles with zero padding. However after seeing a pair of uggs at the store i was in shock of how cheap they looked, how unsupportive the (styrofoam) sole was i became determined to find a superior boot, and the BEARPAW EMMA is that boot. I got the 10" boot in Charcoal (size 10) and I would say they fit true to size. There is even enough room to wear them with socks or jeans tucked in, (and I have slightly larger calves! There is not much by way of arch support but because they are slightly roomy I got a pair of gel shoe inserts and they are super comfortable and still very warm. I was also impressed with their rubber sole as they make the boots slip resistant, and because the rubber makes the shoe more flexible for walking. Honestly I can't understand why anyone would shell out $200 for uggs that function as household slippers when they can spend...
